ABOUT THE FUNDRAISER

My name is Sachika Motani and I am a Grade 11 student of The Shri Ram School, Aravali. I strongly believe in the saying, “Be the change you want to see”. I try to look for opportunities to do whatever little I can to contribute to the society. Conversation around menstruation is still a big taboo in some communities and most young girls in India do not have access to sanitary napkins which is a basic necessity for menstruation hygiene.

Only 12% of India’s 355 Million menstruating women use sanitary napkins. Over 88% of women resort to shocking alternatives like dirty cloth, ashes, and husk sand due to lack of resources. Unhygienic conditions during menstruation can lead to a variety of health problems such as urogenital infections, urinary tract infections to name a few.

I have started the ‘Euphoric Periods’ campaign to support clean menstrual health of girls and women from underprivileged families of Gurugram slums.

Lotus Petal Foundation, India, is a non-profit organization that makes high-impact interventions in the areas of education, healthcare and nutrition with the primary objective to create equal opportunities for underprivileged children in the urban slums of Gurugram, India. Support me as I partner with Lotus Petal Foundation to provide free sanitary napkins to girls and women of low income families living in the slums of Silokhera, Gurugram.

With your contribution of just Rs.500/ $10 Lotus Petal Foundation can provide them with the supply of sanitary napkins for a whole year.

Sanitary napkins are available at Lotus Petal Foundation’s Telemedicine Center in Silokhera Village, Gurugram. Girls and women living in the area can walk in to collect sanitary napkins from the Telemedicine Center free of cost.

Support a girl’s menstrual hygiene for a year at just Rs.500/ $10.
